Wonders of Sur

During the 6th century, Sur was an established center for trade with East Africa. In the 16th century, it was under Portuguese rule but was liberated by the Omani imam Nassir ibn Murshid and underwent an economic revival, as a trade center with India and East Africa.

Wadi Shab

Along the Muscat – Sur highway in the Sharqiah region of Oman lies the popular and the dramatic Wadi Shab sandwiched between spectacularly narrow mountain ravine, edged in by dizzying sandstone walls with a verdant ribbon of date plantations and banana palms edged through the base of the cliffs.
